Right Time Right Place

Being at the right place at the right time is usually associated with happiness and success. But what happens when we are at the right place at the wrong time? Do we even know that this is the right place? And what if it turns out that it is the wrong place after all? But the right time! Whoever loses his orientation over this thought will get a feeling for Robert Rutöd’s latest pictures. The Vienna-born photographer wandered for five years through Europe and has proven to be a keen observer with an often tragicomic view ...

FOTONOVIEMBRE is a cultural event with international reach, organised by the Island Cabildo (Island government), TEA, through the Centro de Fografía Isla de Tenerife, an International Photography Festival, which has been held on the island of Tenerife every two years since 1991.

Robert Rutöd's work revolves around an encounter with the shocking, the paradox, the ludicrous. The Austrian's photos look like those photos that you would see on social networks, forcing a faint smile. However, it has nothing to do with it. The disturbing sensation produced is directly linked to its anchor to reality that doubly emphasizes the strangeness that the findings of the photographer's eye produces. Robert Doisneau showed us tender prints taken from the everyday to downplay reality that could be too harsh. Robert, the Austrian, would like to turn things around and present rabbits fleeing in terror from humanoid Martians, men, via a golf club, can travel on tram tracks or barbed wire that protects an inverted mansion.
